We all have those doors in the house that never seem to work properly.

Below is a list of things to look out for that could be the root of your problems

  • Doors not closing and hitting on the jamb? Look for movement in the hinges. Pin may be worn or even loose screws. Door frame may also be out of square.
  • Doors not staying latched? Look for movement in the hinges. Pin may be worn or even loose screws. Door frame may also be out of square. Tongue on latch may be sticking
  • Door catches when opening and closing? Look for movement in the hinges. Pin may be worn or even loose screws. Door frame may also be out of square. Is there rain or a lot of moisture in the air? Sometime this can cause timber to swell so may only catch in winter or in wet area.
  • Door swelling at bottom? Lack of sealer on bottom of door and moisture has entered
  • Lever handle sits at an angle? Springs inside latch are worn
